Mediterranean food includes Greek and Middle Eastern dishes. While more restaurants are creating vegetarian-specific dishes that can be enjoyed by vegans as well, Mediterranean restaurants have been offering meatless menus for decades. The Mediterranean menu has leaned towards being vegetarian and vegan-friendly since the inception of the cuisine and is considered a safe go-to for vegetarians and vegans alike.

If you look at Aybla’s Mediterranean Menu over half the menu is vegetarian by default. Starting with the Appetizers we have the Hummus Plate, Baba Ganouj, Tzatziki (vegan tahini sauce available), Veggie Mezza (pictured above), Saganaki, Dolmades. Any of our pastas can be served without meat, we have a lentil soup and we have five salads to choose from, including classics like Greek, Caesar, Kale, Toubouli, and a seasonal Capri salad. Don’t worry carnivores, you can add lamb, chicken or salmon depending on the dish.

There are multiple reasons to choosing the vegetarian food and a vegan lifestyle. The added benefits of the many vegan cuisine options offered by Mediterranean food is considered the healthiest. Although we are biased, you don’t have to take our word for it. The Harvard School of Public Health has been promoting the Mediterranean Diet since 1993. Harvard has conducted numerous studies to support the fact that vegan and vegetarian food contributes to a healthy diet.

Now you can enjoy the best vegetarian and vegan food in Portland in a restaurant setting. Aybla Grill has recently opened a new Greek Mediterranean restaurant located in the heart of Portland.
